Theoretical Approach & Philosophies of Counseling:

I’ve received training in I-FAST (Integrated Family and Systems Treatment), and have always had a bit of a Narrative therapy bent. I also have experience with neurodiversity affirming therapeutic techniques that integrate multidisciplinary approaches to providing mental health care.  I have additional training in Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, which is a neurodiversity affirming trauma-informed care model. Although it is often used with children, I find it to be incredibly helpful with all ages. I am an allistic therapist who has had the privilege of counseling ND and NT clients and families for over a decade. I believe that people do well when they can, and I strive to create a safe space where clients can process their struggles and/or trauma, and experience support and healing. I spent eight years working in community mental health, helping clients and families navigate available support systems and determine how best to utilize those supports while living their lives to the fullest.

About Me:

When I'm not working, I'm probably spending time with my family or doing something musical. I sing in a choir and play steel drum in a small adult steel drum band, and I've never seen an instrument I didn't want to at least try. I took virtual ukelele lessons during the pandemic as a random but lovely form of self-care! I have extremely eclectic musical tastes and am willing to give anything a listen at least once. I love to read and I enjoy talking about what I've read, whether it is fiction, news, or scholarly articles. I am a Marvel fan, and although I'm usually a few weeks behind the latest releases, I'm always game to talk characters and relate their experiences and motivations to real life situations. I often sneak some type of superhero or fantasy element into my clothing or accessories, because life is too short not to enjoy the things you love.
