Theoretical Approach & Philosophies of Counseling:

I see counseling as a chance to heal and grow in a trusting relationship with a professional, which supports you to do the same with yourself and with others. I target your goals and preferences, often combining humanistic-existential with CBT, narrative, and/or solution-focused techniques. My underlying approach is informed by research in neurobiology (the body-brain connection) and in culture and philosophy (how we create meaning from who we are, from our surroundings, and from what we believe). No matter which theories/interventions I’m considering, I’ll involve you in decisions, asking you to pick from some options and to give me feedback along the way.

Specialty Areas & Client Focus:

  • Life transitions - planned or unplanned

  • Loss of a loved one or a job

  • Traumatic event(s)

  • Finding your first/new/last career

Some clients want career help; others want therapy. Many find a unique combo of career+personal counseling is exactly what they're looking for.

About Me:

I feel incredibly lucky to do this work and to teach/present and write about the transformative potential of counseling. I also delight in things like dance, travel, time in nature, and magical realism.
