Clinical Supervision Series
Get Ready for the 2025 Supervision Series, Starting July 18th!
This virtual Supervision Training Series meets the Ohio CSWMFT Board criteria for training supervision designation for counselors and social workers.
Counselors: To obtain training supervision designation, counselors must attend all four parts. LPCC-Ss seeking license renewal can meet the 3-hour ethics and 3-hour supervision CE requirements by completing Part 2 only.
Social Workers: Earning the training supervision designation requires attendance at Parts 1 and 2. LISWs will earn 3 ethics CEs for license renewal in addition to 9 required hours of supervision training.
Note: Registration for CEU courses is non-refundable.

Part One: Cultivating Supervisee Development through Models of Supervision

This program offers foundational knowledge of supervision models, interventions, and stages of supervisee development. Participants will explore learning models, relational dynamics, and strategies to navigate cultural and individual differences in supervision. Practical examples will illustrate how these factors influence the supervisory relationship and overall supervision process.
Objectives:
Participants will learn about stages of supervisee development and learning models.
Participants will learn several models of clinical supervision.
Participants will learn how to utilize various supervision models and interventions as they apply to stages of supervisee development.
Participants will gain awareness related to cultural and individual differences that may influence clinical supervision.
Participants will learn about the relationship dynamics between the supervisor and supervisee.

Part Two: Ethical and Legal Considerations in Supervision

This program focuses on common ethical and legal issues in clinical supervision, emphasizing the guidelines and regulatory processes set by the Ohio CSWMFT Board. Participants will learn practical strategies to address these issues, explore ethical decision-making models, and review case studies to apply learned concepts. Best practices rooted in Ohio’s regulations and professional organizations will be highlighted to prepare future supervisors for ethical, legally sound supervision practices.
Objectives:
Participants will learn about common ethical issues that arise in clinical supervision and ways to address them.
Participants will learn about common legal issues that arise in clinical supervision and ways to address them.
Participants will learn about best practices related to ethical and legal aspects of clinical supervision established by professional organizations.
Participants will learn how to apply an ethical decision-making model through examples.
Participants will gain an understanding of the regulatory processes that govern clinical supervision.

Part Three: Supervisor Roles, Responsibilities, and Practice Protocol

This program explores best practices in clinical supervision by examining supervision processes, procedures, and institutional policies. Facilitators will provide practical examples and encourage self-assessment for supervisors. Participants will learn strategies to navigate multiple roles and responsibilities as supervisors while adhering to established standards and policies.

Participants will learn about best practices related to the process and procedure of clinical supervision established by professional organizations.
Participants will gain an understanding of common agency and institutional policies.
Participants will learn ways to manage the multiple roles and responsibilities of a supervisor.
Participants will learn various ways to assess their own effectiveness as a supervisor as well as the supervision process.

Part 4: Assessment, Evaluation, and Remediation in Supervision

Description:
This program emphasizes the importance of assessing supervisee skills through initial, formative, and summative evaluation. Participants will learn methods for monitoring, appraising, and evaluating supervisees while exploring strategies for providing both informal and formal feedback. Remediation procedures and professional development plans will be discussed to support supervisee growth and address areas of concern.
Objectives:
